Maxon Studio

Maxon Studio is a streamlined, intuitive, and centralized interface for presenting, implementing, and managing Maxon capsules.

Maxon Studio Highlights

  • The initial release contains 250+Capsules and more will be added routinely over time.
  • Studio’s Discover tab reveals a Capsule thumbnail gallery users can browse, filter, and search in seconds. This solves the problem of staring at a blank page when a transition, title, or other enhancement is needed.
  • Animated Capsule previews show exactly how the enhancement will look. From there, one click adds that Capsule to the After Effects composition in progress.
  • Built from dozens of Adobe and Red Giant tools and plug-ins, Capsules amount to hundreds or even thousands of parameters and settings, but users often need only a handful of controls for the most common adjustments, such as keyframing. Studio’s Edit panel makes it easy to be creative without having to dive repeatedly into timeline layers to hunt for a maddeningly elusive parameter.
  • Studio’s UI can run in its own window on a separate screen or dock into After Effects for a more consolidated workspace.
  • Maxon Studio Capsules are responsive, so whether a project’s resolution is 720p, 1080p, or 8K, Capsules will adjust the layout while maintaining the overall design.

In short, Studio takes everything you love about presets—that finished look, the quick convenience—and makes it all an order of magnitude better.

Geo

A simple yet powerful tool for lighting, texturing, and cloning 3D objects in After Effects

Introducing Geo, an all-new plug-in for Adobe After Effects for texturing, lighting, and cloning 3D models. With the aim of offering a simple but powerful 3D solution, approachable yet capable enough for any skill level, Geo slides neatly into your existing After Effects workflow. Select models from the Maxon Capsule library or import your own and fully customize their textures and materials. Create quick, easy arrays in a variety of shapes with the cloner controls. Fully sell your scene by casting shadows directly from your geometry onto any selected layer in your composition.

3D Models

Grab the model you want and go. Seven supported formats include C4D, OBJ, FBX, GLB, glTF, DAE, and 3DS. This means less hunting for just the right file and more getting right to the good stuff.

Add Materials and Textures

Assign up to five materials, each with its own set of physically-based properties, including base color, roughness, metalness, subsurface, transmission, opacity, emmission, and bump (normal and height). Modify or create any texture with the full power of After Effects at your disposal. Get a head start with one of the included surface presets or build entirely from scratch. It’s never been easier to iterate and vary your 3D scenes.

Refractions

Create realistic glass, water, and other translucent materials with Geo’s refractions based on the real-world Index of refraction table. Not only do they look beautiful, they render crazy fast!

Create Clone Arrays

Generate quick and easy arrays in box, sphere, or cylindrical shapes with the integrated cloner. This approachable set of controls will feel familiar to artists accustomed to Cinema 4D’s MoGraph tools. Duplicate, scale, and rotate your geometry on all three axes to create asteroid belts, armies of marching ants, spinning smart phones, or mesmerizing abstract art.

Environment

Immerse your geometry into the scene with robust environmental controls. Adjust the color, intensity and angles of the built-in sun light. Assign refraction and environment maps for interactive refractions, image-based lighting and reflections. Get just the right color and strength of your shadows. Define the visibility and fog falloff for a cinematic fade into the distance.

Shadow Catcher

While also a part of the environment group, this slick little feature is worth its own mention. Control the position and rotations of shadows cast from your geometry simply using the AE layer transforms of any selected comp layer. Works amazingly for camera-tracked VFX shots, motion graphics product shots and more. Separate your shadow pass from your geometry for complete compositing control.

VFX Suite

Keying, tracking, cleanup, and visual effects compositing, right inside of After Effects.

VFX Suite offers a powerful toolkit for realistic visual effects composites in After Effects. With Supercomp, light and atmospheric effects interact with all of your layers and the elements of a scene in a far more natural way than can be modeled with a simple stack of 2D layers. Lens Distortion Matcher makes it easy to match any camera lens, whether it’s wide angle, fisheye, GoPro or anything else, so your composited elements fit perfectly into your shot. VFX Suite also includes tools for adding shadows and reflections that speed up some of the essential parts of creating a professional composite.

Supercomp

A toolkit for realistic VFX composites in After Effects

  • Integrated VFX Compositing: Creating complex, seamless composites in After Effects can be a difficult, time-consuming task. With Supercomp, light and atmospheric effects interact with all of your layers and the elements of a scene in a far more natural way than can be modeled with a simple stack of 2D layers. Supercomp enhances the After Effects 2D compositing engine with its own, powerful environment and set of tools, and far less pre-composing than ever before.
  • Powerful Effects, Fast: Work with 17 GPU-accelerated context-aware tools, such as Light Wrap, Volumetric Fog, Optical Glow, and more. Supercomp’s effects are easily applied, with less time needed to get realistic professional composites. Supercomp’s adjustable presets speed up the compositing process by displaying live previews of how they’ll affect your finished composite.
  • Pro Tricks & Techniques: Good compositing requires knowing how to make things look right. With Supercomp, you’ll benefit from decades of our team’s extensive feature film and broadcast experience. Supercomp comes with built-in visual effects tricks and techniques that deliver beautiful, convincing results. Light wraps know they should wrap around every layer — not just one. Heat Blur applied to a fire element gives a realistic blurring and distortion of all layers behind it, without requiring additional effects.
  • Entirely New, Completely Familiar: Supercomp is a companion that works seamlessly with and within After Effects, so you can continue to use the effects and workflows you already know. Use Supercomp for the finishing touches — or choose to base your entire workflow around it. No matter how you use it in your work, you’ll never have to leave the comfort of the familiar After Effects timeline to get it done.

Primatte Keyer

Fast, Automatic Chroma keying

  • Instantly Remove Green Screen: Whether you are using a green screen or blue screen, Primatte Keyer’s Auto Compute Algorithms can often pull a perfect key automatically.
  • Best User Experience & Best Results: Primatte Keyer’s new user interface makes it easy to select your background and foreground, and to separate them out for a great key. Primatte’s cleanup tools help make it look solid without much additional effort.
  • GPU Optimized: Primatte Keyer has always made the keying process faster by just being more intuitive and easier to use than any other keying tool out there. Now, with GPU optimization, you’ll get even more speed, with previews and renders up to 3x faster than in previous versions.

Bang

Customizable, volumetric muzzle flashes for After Effects

  • Customizable 3D Muzzle Flashes: Bang is an After Effects plug-in for creating realistic or stylized 3D gunfire effects. You can easily create the perfect muzzle flash with the intuitive shape controls or choose from numerous presets. Create flashes with star-shaped petals, and even add glow and sparks. Adjust color, brightness, falloff, and interactive light to perfectly match your footage.
  • Easy Alignment: Bang’s 3D particle system renders unique flashes viewable from any angle, taking into account After Effects’ comp cameras. Easily define the position of the barrel, the aim and the direction to or away from camera. Easily adjust the roll and scale of your muzzle flash.
  • Interactive Relighting: Automatically simulate the light from the bright muzzle flashes illuminating your actors and location, removing the need for separate adjustments.
  • Keyframe Triggering: In Bang, each muzzle flash is controlled via keyframe in a single effect track.
  • Muzzle Flash Petals: Some guns have compensators, brakes, or flash hiders. They’re designed to reroute expelled gasses in order to achieve less recoil and muzzle movement. The number of holes in the compensator define the number of muzzle flash petals. With Bang, you can customize the petals to match your weapon.
  • Flash Age: The muzzle flash of a real firearm is captured in a single frame at a random point in the duration of the explosive discharge. Because of this, real flashes captured on camera will have different shapes and appearances depending on when the shutter was open.  With Bang, the user can control the age and age randomization of the flashes, giving them full control over this look.
  • Presets: Bang comes loaded with fully customizable presets to get you started. Browse presets for many well know firearms including: 45 Magnum, Generic 9mm Pistol, Silenced Pistol, M16A1 “Des/Troy”, M4 5-Petal, Generic Assault Rifle, Minigun, Electro, and more.

  • Easy Corner Pinning…: King Pin Tracker makes it simple to replace signs or add rectangular objects into a shot. But what if your object isn’t rectangular, or has an alpha channel? What if there’s nothing to track where you want to place your object? King Pin Tracker has you covered. With powerful To and From pins, and the ability to offset and rotate in planar space, you can pin whatever you want, wherever you want it.
  • …And Much More: Pinning signs and the like is just the beginning. In our work at Red Giant, we’ve used King Pin Tracker for applying digital makeup effects, removing unwanted objects from complex moving shots, prop replacement, and more. With high quality motion blur and a render engine that keeps layers sharp while avoiding moiré, King Pin Tracker makes it easy to composite your tracked objects believably.
  • Simple UI For Complex Work: King Pin Tracker’s interface makes it easy to corner pin and track your footage.

Lens Distortion Matcher

Remove or match distortion from any kind of lens

  • Automatic Undistort: Lens Distortion Matcher makes it incredibly easy to undistort footage from any lens so that you can composite elements into your shot. Even if you don’t know what kind of lens – wide angle, GoPro, fisheye, or whatever – Lens Distortion Matcher can figure it out instantly.
  • Fast Pro Workflow and Results: Most undistort workflows are difficult and often end up with a loss in video quality through the roundtrip. Lens Distortion Matcher works differently, making the process simple, fast, and lossless. By analyzing the lens distortion in your original footage and then applying that lens model to your final comp, you get an undistorted composition to work in, and a final comp that matches the original lens.
  • No More Slip and Slide: Getting a reliable After Effects 3D camera track or 2D track from wide angle footage is challenging if not nearly impossible. Composited elements tend to slip and slide as the camera moves, killing the final effect. But by using Lens Distortion Matcher before you track, you’re able to give After Effects a much more tracking friendly shot, which means reliable tracking results, ready for compositing.
  • Intuitive UI That Makes It Easy: As you identify curved lines that should be straight, Lens Distortion Matcher quickly solves the lens. Just a few clicks and the job is done. Once you’ve undistorted, you can add VFX or work in the undistorted comp to track objects more reliably with tools like King Pin Tracker. Lens Distortion Matcher makes it easy to losslessly reunite your visual effects with your original footage.

Spot Clone Tracker

Fast, simple spot cleanup and object removal with a built in tracker

  • Remove Objects: Spot Clone Tracker makes it easy to remove small objects or blemishes from your footage by cloning in pixels from neighboring areas. Whether you are trying to remove acne, a plug socket, or motion tracking dots, Spot Clone Tracker has you covered. Literally.
  • Rock Solid Tracking: A lightning-fast tracker allows you to easily track your target area on moving footage. The Clone From region can follow along automatically, or be positioned or even tracked separately.
  • Match Lighting & Textures: Cloning can come with all sorts of challenges such as different lighting and textures between your source and target. Spot Clone tracker solves that through 6 different methods for repairing your footage, so that blending and light matching are handled automatically.
  • A Simple UI for Complex Work: Spot Clone Tracker’s user interface makes borrowing pixels from other areas of your shot fast and easy. Define the spot to be cleaned up and the source of the clone using the graphical overlay.

Optical Glow

A blazing fast, drop-dead gorgeous, photo-realistic glow effect for After Effects and Premiere Pro

  • Absolutely Beautiful: Optical Glow is the most beautiful, highest-quality glow ever made for Adobe After Effects or Premiere Pro. And while we could explain to you that Optical Glow uses an optically-correct inverse-square falloff, rather than the gaussian approximation used by other glow effects, the bottom line is that it’s easy to use and just looks awesome.
  • Visual Effects: Optical Glow is perfect for professional visual effects work. With built-in gamma management, your glow always looks realistic, whether your footage is video, log, or even linear. Optical Glow offers tons of control, so whether you’re glowing a lightsaber, starship engine, police lights, or the neon signs in a futuristic dystopia, you’ll get the beautiful result you’re aiming for.
  • Motion Graphics: Everybody needs a good glow for their mograph, right? With control for vibrance, color, falloff and much more, Optical Glow will become a major tool in your motion graphics arsenal. But most importantly… Ooh! Shiny!

Chromatic Displacement

Beautiful prismatic displacement effects

The accuracy of our simulation creates lens flares that move, morph and merge as the light source shifts across the screen. It will make you feel like you are looking at the real thing.

  • Prismatic Effects: Chromatic Displacement uses one layer to displace the pixels of another, while smoothly separating out the colors. Unlike the Displacement Map effect in After Effects, Chromatic Displacement uses the displacement image as a height map, which gives you beautiful, organic results.
  • Visual Effects: We designed Chromatic Displacement for creating professional visual effects, such as force fields, heat ripples, light refractions, cloaking effects, and much more. It’s incredibly flexible, giving you control over the strength, color spread, and softening.
  • Motion Graphics: Displacement effects aren’t just for visual effects. Use text to displace an image, or bring on a logo in a new and interesting way. Once you try Chromatic Displacement, you’ll never go back to standard displacement effects again.

Real Lens Flares

Create realistic lens flares based on simulated optical models and ray traced light.

  • Lens Simulation Engine – Real Lens Flares was built on an engine that simulates the optical qualities of a real lens and calculates rays of light bouncing around inside of glass to create beautiful images.
  • Infinite Customization – Modify almost any property of the lens to change the look and feel of the lens flare. Dial the aperture, tweak the antireflective coatings, move the sensor, and shine some extra light on your shots.
  • Presets – Real Lens Flares ships with dozens of beautiful presets based on real lens simulations, as well as a set of stylized flares and core projections to start building your own.
  • Aperture Control – Changing the aperture is one of the most dramatic ways that the user can change the look of the flare. With Real Lens Flares, you can change the number of blades, curvature, twist, and countless other properties of the aperture to tweak the look of your flare.
  • Light Control – Real Lens Flares works like a real camera lens, you set the type of light, position and intensity, and our engine calculates a realistic flare based on the exposure that you set.
  • Color Control – In addition to being able to control the color of the light of your flares, artists now can edit the properties of each piece of glass to change the color of the reflections that it creates. The color of your reflections is the color of your flare.
    • Core Projections – A set of core projections that can also be controlled through the lens model, as well as individually:
    • Glowball – soft zone of over exposure around a light.
    • Starburst – a star shaped visual artifact caused by the aperture.
    • Single spike – emulating a smear of oil across the lens.
    • Halo – chromatic ringing effect caused by a scratched or oily lens.
    • Gate Flare – light hitting the edge of the lens barrel and bouncing across the glass.
  • Technology Preview – This release is a technology preview and will evolve with the participation of our artistic community. Your feedback will help us shape the future of this brand new tool.

Shadow

Create complex perspective shadows in After Effects

  • Fast Shadows: Shadow is a plugin for After Effects that makes it super easy to add a perspective shadow in front of or behind a layer, based on its alpha channel, brightness, and more. With options for softness, bend, length, color, and many other properties, the Shadow effect goes far beyond the various shadow tools available inside After Effects.
  • Visual Effects: A missing shadow is a sure giveaway that your composited foreground object wasn’t in the original shot. Shadow gives you a fast way to help sell a professional composite.
  • Motion Graphics: Use Shadow to add depth to your motion graphics. Go for realism, or create stylized looks.

Reflection

  • Create realistic reflections in After Effects
  • Fast Reflections: Reflection is a plugin for After Effects that makes it easy to add a reflection to your layers. With controls for softness, distance fade, length, and more, this effect goes far beyond the standard methods for creating reflections.
  • Visual Effects: A missing reflection is a sure giveaway that your composited foreground object wasn’t in the original shot. Reflection gives you a fast way to help sell a professional composite.
  • Motion Graphics: Use reflection to add life to your motion graphics. Great for use with text and logos.
