Native Instruments Traktor Pro 4 | NEW WAY TO PRODUCE MUSIC

Polo uses Traktor Pro for production, as he is not a DJ, but the review is full of great insights. He shows his setup and then walks through some new UI changes. He covers generating stems, the Ozone Maximizer, Flexible Beatgrids, the Pattern Player, and more. It’s interesting to see how he sets up his workspace and then shows his workflow for Traktor 4 Pro for production.

He says he’s not the best person to evaluate the system because he’s not a DJ. He loves how easily the stem separation works. He was also impressed with the pattern player for micro arrangements for generating high hats or snare rolls. He says it’s an exciting addition to his system and it’s a lot of fun.

He has more than two decades of experience as a colorist and online editor, not to mention, he is a founding board member of the Colorist Society Hollywood, a local chapter of the Colorist Society International.

Troy begins his review with how important scopes are to color grading and gives some history of color grading, the types of scopes colorists use, and how software scopes are now the most common. Then, he dives into Nobe OmniScopes 19 scopes and how it works with his current setup.

Recently, to my delight, Time in Pixels released Twin Peaks, which is its version of a Double Diamond display. Twin Peaks makes it very easy to match grades and match shots. In my opinion, the addition of Twin Peaks puts Nobe OmniScope at the top of my list of favorite scopes.

To summarize, he focuses on the key feature of removing static noise profiles. He also cites that “it’s extremely easy to use and doesn’t require much experience with audio.” He doesn’t recommend it for real-time audio because of the introduced latency but says it’s best for offline processing.
