Epic FACE TRACKING in After Effects
Eran Stern of SternFX has a humorous, and highly informative tutorial that shows how to track a face in After Effects to replace it. I’ll be honest, I have not explored this After Effects feature, and it’s pretty cool!
He uses the Mask Tracker in After Effects with the option for “Face Tracking Detailed Features”. This gives track points around the eyes, nose, mouth, cheeks and chin, with multiple points for each face feature. There is an option here for “Set Rest Pose” and a button that allows users to “Extract & Copy Face Measurements”. This creates data points in the Effect controls panel for “Face Measurement”. Link this data with the pick whip and use it in all sorts of creative ways!
You can also use premium plugins like Lockdown or Boris FX Mocha Pro for face tracking.
