02A Hard Object Roto

In part 02A, as is customary for a new shot, Katie discusses the project file setup tips, shot approach, shape creation, and layer organization. In addition, she looks at more Session setup tips to protect ourselves from future client changes. Finally, learn about Note nodes to help if you need to come back to the project at a later date or pass it to another artist.

02B Track Before Roto

Track Before Roto sounds like a great mantra! In this video, Katie enters the shot analysis phase. Will tracking first help to roto faster? Sometimes tracks are impossible. Learn how to remove a bad track if something goes wrong. She also covers animating the shorts and breaking shapes up with Split Shape.

02C Manual Animation

In the third video learn about manual rotoscoping and avoid “Rippling”. Katie covers Point Groups and then reviews the final shot.

02D Wire and Cable Roto

In the 4th video, learn techniques for wires with open shapes. Then learn to add in a wire using open splines.

02E More Cable Roto

In this segment, you’ll learn how to add width to shapes. You’ll also get some great advice on tracking more difficult wires. Learn how to correct points in a stabilized viewer and how to use the multiframe tool. Finally, Katie covers changing widths on multiple shapes.

02F Organize and Export

We are at the end of the second shot. In this video, Katie explains a few things about organizing layers and shapes for exporting. Learn about rendering using an output node and changing widths on multiple shapes.
