Tom Brechtlein is a drummer’s drummer, a seasoned vet with a versatile skill set that is evidenced by the talented artists who have chosen to work with him, including Chick Corea, Kenny Loggins, Wayne Shorter, Jean-Luc Ponty, Christopher Cross, and Robben Ford. So when we decided to make a diverse drum library that could serve nearly any need, he was our first call. The result of Tom Brechtlein’s sessions? Brutal rock grooves, sludgy blues, Louisiana-worthy funk, and tasty jazz and fusion licks that will quickly make this library your secret weapon. His beats and grooves include several of his signature techniques. Vol. 2 focuses on Latin and jazz styles and includes beats, grooves, and fills from several genres at many tempos. Recorded with Studio One®, the sample library shows off the beautiful acoustics of PreSonus’® own River City Studio, which was designed from the ground up by renowned architect and acoustician John Storyk of Walters-Storyk Design Group. River City Studio has hosted such artists as Terrance Higgins, Reba McEntire Band, Ethan Hawke, The Blind Boys of Alabama, Nothing More, Mutemath, Charlie Hunter, and Louisiana’s own LeRoux, to name a few. Volume 2 features 4 Impact XT preset kits that have been optimized for use with the PreSonus ATOM controller, plus 135 Audioloops in many styles, including Latin, jazz, swing, ballad, bossa nova, mambo, rumba, and more, all recorded at 24-bit, 96 kHz resolution. Stereo versions of each loop are included, along with one-shot samples of the drum kit. Unique to this drum library, Intros and Fill patterns flow naturally into the groove, so that cymbal sustain carries over a loop start point to create a more nuanced, natural aesthetic. Other loop packs don’t do this, resulting in unnaturally abrupt cymbal and tom cutoff. Outros that don’t start on the downbeat are often tied into their groove as well, making it easier to place them in the timeline. Count-offs have also been left in many of the Intros to allow greater flexibility in creating pick-up beats without adding hours of frustration spent trying to properly place them on the right beat.

Trombone Section

Recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London by principals and players from the London Symphony Orchestra, the Notion® Trombone Section expansion pack delivers a full, even texture across the chromatic and dynamic range. The ensemble consists of two tenor trombones and one bass trombone and includes the following playing techniques: legato and staccato.

Trumpet Section

Recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London by principals and players from the London Symphony Orchestra, the Notion® Trumpet Section expansion pack adds a mellow, chorused texture to your brass section and ensemble arrangements. The ensemble consists of three trumpets and includes the following playing techniques: legato, vibrato, staccato, trills, flutter tongue, straight mute legato, straight mute staccato, straight mute trills, straight mute flutter tongue, Harmon mute legato, Harmon mute staccato, Harmon mute trills, Harmon mute flutter tongue.

Ukulele

The Notion® Ukulele expansion pack was recorded by Louisiana’s own David Doucet of Beausoleil on a Collings soprano ukulele and includes sample variations for open strings, picked or plucked notes, and up and down strokes. Tab and chord progression input capability is available with the Notion fretboard interface. The following playing techniques are included: plucked, picked, palm muted, left hand mute, up / down strokes.

Viola Section Techniques

The Notion® Viola Section Techniques expansion pack was recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London by principals and players from the London Symphony Orchestra. This expansion pack adds all available viola techniques and articulations, including sul ponticello, sul ponticello tremolo, natural harmonics, artificial harmonics, col legno, Bartók pizzicato, minor third tremolo, major third tremolo, and perfect fourth tremolo.

Violin Section Techniques

The Notion® Violin Section Techniques expansion pack was recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London by principals and players from the London Symphony Orchestra. This expansion pack adds all available violin techniques and articulations, including sul ponticello, sul ponticello tremolo, natural harmonics, artificial harmonics, col legno, Bartók pizzicato, minor third tremolo, major third tremolo, and perfect fourth tremolo.

VU Meter

The VU Meter plug-in provides the best of both worlds for your signal metering needs: analog-style VU meters (with clip indicators) and LED-segment-style peak meters. VU meters are most useful for showing overall signal level, whereas peak meters (like those found in the mix consoles of most DAW applications) are most useful for keeping track of peak signal levels. By referencing both types, you can see a more nuanced picture of your signal. A stereo correlation meter rounds out the trio of meters in this plug-in, giving you insight into the left/right phase relationship of your signal.
