Motion Subtitle Maker is an After Effects script. It automates the creation of animated subtitles from an SRT file to Quicktime video files or PNG files.
Thanks to the fcpxml and xml files generated, in addition to the video rendering files, subtitles are imported back into the timeline with frame-accurate precision. It is now also compatible with Premiere Pro.

Export your subtitles in *.srt format from your editing software.
In After Effects, open the subtitles with Motion Subtitle Maker, choose a template (or easily create your own.)
Adjust a few parameters, generate your compositions and render.
Motion Subtitle Maker also creates an FCPXML file for Da Vinci Resolve and Final Cut Pro X, and an XML file for Premiere Pro.
Simply import this file into your editing software as a timeline, and all the elements will be in their proper place.

Create your templates

Motion Subtitle Maker comes with an After Effects project to get you started with predefined animations.
But it’s extremely easy to create your own animation.

Use mograph

You can also use Mographs downloaded from third-party sites.
But be careful. It’s important to know that there are two types of Mograph.
Those generated by After Effects and those generated by Premiere Pro.
After Effects can’t open Mographs generated by Premiere Pro, and there’s no way of knowing until I’ve tried… So be careful if you have to buy mographs, ask if they can be opened with After Effects.

Caution

Subtitle management in general requires rigorous attention to several points in order to avoid problems.

• The same frame rate must be maintained throughout the process to avoid timecode slippage.
• If you need to use a subtitle file that has not been generated in the editing software, it is advisable to import it into the timeline, check for problems and export it to make sure that the timecode of the srt matches that of the timeline.
